Make a Design Statement with Plantation Shutters
For those wishing to plan and design the interior and exterior of their home, the windows are an important focus. Although the use of co-ordinating curtains and blinds are the most popular choice of window dressing, especially in the UK, many people are turning to the use of shutters.
Many countries with a hotter climate have window shutters fitted as standard. For instance, in the Caribbean and other tropical climates plantation shutters are installed to the interior of the window frames as standard, in order to shade the room and keep the midday heat out. They can also act as a barrier to help deter insects and bugs.
Although shutters are not such a necessity in the UK, they can compliment the interior design and exterior architecture of any home. They come in a wide range of styles and colours to co-ordinate with any theme and colour scheme. When fitted to the exterior of a property it is important to ensure that the style and colour is chosen to be in keeping with the age and architecture of the building.
A further advantage of installing shutters is that as opposed to traditional window dressings, they will not intrude in the space and light coming into a room, as they can be folded back neatly and unobtrusively when not in use.
